• A Czech-Norwegian programme under the baton of a Czech-Norwegian conductor • Bedřich Smetana’s third and last “Swedish” symphonic poem, composed during his stay in Gothenburg and inspired by a historical tragedy by the Danish playwright Adam Oehlenschläger about a 10th-century ruler of Norway • Famous suites from Grieg’s incidental music for Henrik Ibsen’s verse drama Peer Gynt • One of Dvořák’s symphonic masterpieces, sometimes dubbed English in reference to its publisher, the London firm Novello • A work full of joy, composure and admiration for the beauty of nature as well as Czech and more broadly Slavonic folk music
